Job Summary:
Responsible for the constant review of manufacturing processes to identify Continuous Improvement (CI) opportunities that will result in increased quality, efficiency, or Customer satisfaction through measurable KPIs (Key Performance Indicators). This position will also require the use of advanced Six Sigma tools (DMAIC), process and design FMEA as the foundation for each of the projects.
Essential Responsibilities:
Responsible for the constant review of manufacturing processes to identify Continuous Improvement (CI) opportunities that will result in increased quality, efficiency, or Customer satisfaction through measurable KPIs (Key Performance Indicators). This position will also require the use of advanced Six Sigma tools (DMAIC), process and design FMEA as the foundation for each of the projects.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Work with management to identify process and product improvement opportunities in the areas of quality, cost, safety, performance, and preventive and predictive maintenance.
- Recommend modifications to existing quality and/or production standards to achieve optimum quality.
- Research root causes of material defects and develop and implement corrective actions.
- Analyze product failures and implement corrective and preventive actions in response to customer complaints.
- Assist in product qualification testing as needed by Design Engineering.
- Work with design engineering to conduct FMEA on new product designs.
- Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering on the research and implementation of new technology for production and process control and automation.
- Confers with purchasing agents and suppliers to evaluate and improve quality of external products through joint technical analysis and process auditing.
- Communicate with sales, service personnel and customers to obtain quality-related information and provide feedback.
- Confers with planning and design staff concerning product design and tooling to ensure efficient production methods.
- Assist in the design and development of custom inspection fixtures or tooling.
- Evaluate products and processes through hands-on measurement using various metrology tools.
- Assists Quality Manager in creating and maintaining company quality documentation, such as quality manuals, quality procedures, etc.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
- 5+ years’ experience in a Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineer or related occupation in quality assurance or manufacturing engineering.
- Experience in Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Experience recommending changes in designs, tolerances, or processing methods, using statistical procedures.
- Experience communicating manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, or other information to facilitate production processes.
- Experience in 3D CAD design software. (Solidworks, Inventor, etc.)
