Job Summary:
The National Sales Manager leads the sales team for the Power Switching Division responsible for developing and executing a sales strategy to increase market share and enhance our brand within utility, renewable, and commercial/industrial power systems. Utilizing both internal sales and manufacturer’s representatives, the National Sales Manager is responsible for leading the customer engagement across multiple product lines to win business with current and new customers and to gather voice of the customer (VOC) and market intelligence.
Essential Functions:
• Achieve financial plans (bookings and margin) with a focus on sales and market-share growth.
• Forecast bookings (quantity and value) by product for sales and operational planning and the strategic planning process.
• For innovation and new product development, execute voice of the customer (VOC)process to communicate customer needs and wants into the product line.
• Initiate and maintain collaborative relationships with agents and customers to become ahigh-value, long-term partner.
• Develop and publish necessary sales reports.
• Train and develop area sales managers.
• Supervise, support, and evaluate the efforts of our manufacturers’ representatives.
• Manage the quote and pricing configurator used by the area sales managers.
• Develop, maintain, and update sales enablement tools to include presentations, website and e-marketing, literature, videos, and value propositions.
• Develop pricing policies and sales strategies to fit the changing market and meet all financial plans.
• Coordinate and manage strategic projects / bids through a variety of sales channels; analyze competitive pricing levels and adjust proposals to respond effectively to changes in price, service, etc., Negotiate final product prices with customer.
•Execute product launches working closely with marketing communications, engineering, and operations teams.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Business, or Marketing
• Ten (10) years outside field sales of a technical product or solution Five (5) years Leadership / Management of people
• Effective communicator at all levels - skilled in delivering formal presentations
• Ability to travel up to 75% of the time
Preferred Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering with a Power Systems emphasis
• Master of Business Administration
• Five (5) years in a role supplying power engineering solutions or products for electric utility and industrial power systems
