Job Summary:
The Master Scheduler is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing production schedules to meet customer demand, while optimizing resource utilization and minimizing costs. This role requires strong customer-focused analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Key Responsibilities:
Create and maintain accurate production schedules, considering customer demand, inventory levels, and resource availability.
Analyze production capacity, equipment availability, and labor resources to ensure efficient use of resources.
Prioritize production orders based on customer demand, lead times, and inventory levels.
Work closely with production team members, including order engineering, supervisors, leads, operators, and external process partners to ensure effective communication and execution of production schedules.
Monitor and manage inventory levels, including raw materials, vendor components, work-in-progress, and finished goods.
Identify potential production risks, such as equipment downtime or material shortages, and develop contingency plans to minimize disruptions.
Utilize scheduling software and other tools to manage production schedules, track progress, and analyze performance.
Track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as on-time to manufacture/delivery, and production efficiency, and provide regular reports to management.
Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement changes to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance customer satisfaction.
Communicates schedule changes to sales as soon as they become necessary.
Maintains and communicates product lead-times to Sales and Marketing
Work closely with Design engineering and purchasing to support phasing in and out of products as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in a business-related field or a combination of education and experience equivalent to a bachelor’s degree.
Minimum 5 years of experience in production environment in production control, manufacturing engineering, industrial engineering, or purchasing.
Proven experience with scheduling software and other manufacturing planning tools.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, project management, and facilitation.
Excellent interpersonal skills, including strong verbal and written communication skills.
Strong computer skills, especially with Microsoft Office
Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously while working in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, Operations Management, Industrial Engineering.
Certified Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) certification.
Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, specifically Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.
Demonstrated experience with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma concepts and tools as they relate to production scheduling and materials management.
Expert knowledge with Microsoft Excel.
Previous experience in production planning in a Make-To-Order manufacturing environment (job shop)
