Job Summary: The Sustaining Engineer-I, while being an integral member of the Design Engineering team, is a cross-functional role working with Design Engineering, Order Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, and Quality Control to support existing products. Primary responsibilities are product cost reduction and the resolution of product design problems and design requests. This role requires a sense of urgency, hands-on capabilities, and excellent communication skills. Sustaining Engineer-I must be self-starter and innovative thinker that can plan and execute.
Essential Functions:
Coordinate timely and cost-effective responses to technical inquiries from customers for products in service
Support the shop floor in troubleshooting, assembly, and testing of product
Lead root cause analysis for product and assembly problems
Support sourcing and quality assurance in the disposition of non-conforming parts
Drive product enhancements and cost reductions, identifying risks and improvement opportunities
Lead or assist with the Customer Service Requests by performing complaint investigations, including root cause analysis
Write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals
Perform design analysis, design review and design verification on modified and existing products
Work in a team developing product strategies to profitably meet customer needs and remain competitive in the market
Design, test and implement practical engineering components used for customer applications
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in mechanical or aeronautical engineering from an accredited university
Ability to collaborate and work in a fast-paced engineering environment
Ability to successfully manage projects
Proficiency in use of engineering software; AutoCAD/AutoCAD Mechanical & SolidWorks
Ability to perform effectively in time sensitive situations while maintaining a focus on quality
Strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills
Solid oral and written skills, able to effectively communicate
Available for travel up to 25% of the time
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s Degree in mechanical or aeronautical engineering from an accredited university
Three (3) years of experience designing / maintaining electromechanical devices
Strong hands-on skills in the assembly and disassembly of mechanical components
Strong ability to read and interpret electrical schematics
