Job Summary:


The Sales Support Engineer is a key member of a team responsible for driving sales and profitable growth in the Distribution Automation Division.  Sales Support Engineer’s are the primary resource for field sales and are responsible for developing winning proposals for Southern States products. Working in conjunction with the sales team as the key technical advisor and product advocate, the Sales Support Engineer must be able to identify and provide reliable solutions for customer inquiries to assure complete customer satisfaction through all stages of the sales process.  The Sales Support Engineer must be able to establish and maintain strong relationships throughout the sales cycle.


Essential Duties:
 
  • Develop and maintain a proficient level of product knowledge and application.
  • Articulate technology / product positioning and value propositions to users, integrators, and consultants.  Assists sales in influencing and evaluating customer specifications.
  • Responding to functional and technical elements of RFIs/RFPs, develop winning proposals for Southern States products and solutions.
  • Perform remote technical product and application demos for customers, manufacturing representatives, and consultants at targeted accounts.
  • Maintain accurate records of target accounts, opportunities, quotes, projects, contacts and correspondence in Salesforce and track assigned Salesforce pipeline opportunities through completion.  
  • Develops collaborative business/personal relationships with agents and customers for the purpose of effective product/solution sales and identifying customer needs and wants for input into new product development and existing product improvements.
  • Review incoming orders both technically and commercially, including the Terms and Conditions review. Process customer orders by providing all required information and details to our Order Entry team, ensuring accurate costing and timely fulfilment. Coordinate with engineering and manufacturing teams to ensure timely scheduling and prompt order acknowledgment for customer.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Other Responsibilities:
 
  • Assists with customer support and after sales and warranty services.
  • Provide status of ongoing and future projects and deadlines.
  • Act as back-up to Area Sales Managers and assist in supporting their opportunities.
  • Participate in monthly production reviews to ensure accuracy of parts and information for orders being delivered.
  • Create, update, and maintain product customer map.

Minimum Qualifications:
 
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical or mechanical engineering from an accredited university or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience: 0-5 years of experience in engineering of or technical support of electrical equipment in the power industry.
  • Ability to travel approximately <10% domestically
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products
  • Possess excellent communication (written and verbal), interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to customer support.

Preferred Qualifications:
 
  • Knowledge of distribution power grid or distribution reclosers preferred.
  • Experience in sales support, customer service, or a similar support role preferred.
