The Southern States LLC Maintenance Mechanic 7 Installs, maintains, and repairs machinery, equipment, physical structures, and pipe and electrical systems in commercial or industrial establishments by performing the following duties.

HOW YOU WILL ADD VALUE:
- Assembles machines, and bolts, welds, rivets, or otherwise fastens them to foundation or other structures.
- Visually inspects and tests machinery and equipment.
- Listens for unusual sounds and tests malfunctioning equipment to detect malfunction and discusses machine operation variations with supervisors or other maintenance workers to diagnose problem or repair machine.
- Dismantles machines or equipment, replaces defective parts and motors, and adjusts feed mechanisms.
- Inspects machinery's electrical wiring, switches, and controls for safe operating condition, grounding and adjustment.
- Cleans and lubricates shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery.
- Operates cutting torch or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts.
- Replaces or repairs machine belts.
- Bends and cuts conduit and wire, and drills holes in walls, floors, and ceilings for electrical connections.
- Connects wire to motors, fixtures, and other electrical equipment, replaces switches and fuses, and splices wire and insulates wire with friction tape.
- Bends, cuts, and threads pipe, cuts openings in walls, ceilings, and floors for pipes, and seals pipe joints with sealing compound.
- Inspects and measures machine parts to detect wear, misalignment, or other problems.
- Realigns and adjusts machine components such as spindles and clutches.
- Locates damaged air and hydraulic pipes on machine, and measures, cuts, threads, and installs new pipe.
- Installs power supply wiring and conduit for newly installed machines and equipment.
- Diagnoses malfunctioning apparatus such as transformers, motors, and lighting fixtures and replaces damaged or broken wires and cables.
- Replaces electric motor bearings and rewires motors.
- Starts machines and equipment to test operation following repair.
- Fabricates and repairs counters, benches, partitions, and other wooden structures.
- Maintain equipment and work area in a clean, safe, and orderly manner.

- EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); six months to one year of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add and subtract whole numbers, fractions and decimals. Ability to use simple mathematical and geometric devices, such as, calculators, calipers, scales, measuring tapes, etc.
